Welcome back all.  Sorry it's been a while since I last blogged.  But you know how it is.  Life keeps happening even though sometimes we wish it would stop.  But should you ever tire, you need to know that I am here for you.  Does this mean I'll be able to help you move?  Well not unless your close.  Does this mean I will lie for you?  Does this mean that I'll take a back seat in the relationship with you?
If these are your definitions for friendship then I'm afraid I'm not your guy.
I'm not saying I wouldn't help a friend move, I'm just saying that my willingness to help someone move should not be the only reason they befriend me.  If so then they really are not my friend at all, I'm just a lackey they can call when they need some heavy lifting done.
But as most of you know I try to stay positive.  It's a fine line to walk between being loving and accepting, and being an enabler.  So how do we know when and where to draw the line with friends?
It's so simple it's going to make you mad.  Just listen to your heart.  Yes it's that simple.  You see if your heart is into doing whatever it is for your friend, then your heart has joy in doing so.  But if a friend asks you to do something for them and you get a heavy heart just thinking about it, then don't do it.  You're heart's not into it.  It's not about love or compassion as some people will tell you.  Some people will tell you that it's wrong to not help that person.  I say if you're going to live in a box, then let it damned well be a box of your own creation.  In other words don't let other peoples ideas and ideals of what is right and wrong become yours.  Choose to examine all of the facts available and then make up your own damned mind.  That's the only way you are going to be happy.
I have friends and associates that I would give my life for.  But there are also friends and associates who I would not give my life for.  This is neither cruel nor insensitive, it is pure unadulterated fact.  Once I made peace with living my life for me then everything changed.  I don't mind waiting in line.  I don't mind being looked over at the restaurant, I don't mind being cut off in traffic.  I don't even mind being last in a line that's going slower than molasses on a winter day.
I now have an outlook on life that gives me back my power.  This outlook is that this world of ours is getting ready to change.  I see it, I feel it, I know it's coming.  In fact it's already here.  This change is making everyone who doesn't know what's going on very nervous.  Because they feel it too.
